A short film created as part of the project entitled Voices and Faces of the Adhan: Cairo
Voices of Cairo is a short film, intended to act as an extended trailer of Voices and Faces of the Adhan: Cairo. As it begins, we are introduced to 24 year-old Hassan Mustafa, muezzin of Masgid al-Ghuri, in the neighborhood of Sayeda Aisha. Hassan tells the story of how the verses of the adhan became the method used in Islam to call people to prayer and reflects upon his personal experience with the adhan. Other voices join in and the film interweaves shots of other muezzins of Cairo calling from their mosques.
The Adhan Unification Project officially began on August 11, 2010. Since the creation of the extended trailer, Voices of Cairo, many political and social changes have taken place in Egypt that have altered the timeline of the Adhan Unification Project. On Look Films continues their commitment to document the adhan as history unfolds.
Shot during the pre-production research and development trip in August 2009.
